The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for a West Coast Manager position within the Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) department. This role will focus on leading a team of engineers, technicians, and project management professionals while supporting power and renewable projects, business development, and company initiatives.

What You'll Do

Project Technical Lead and/or Project Management- 40%

  • Manages and supports electrical engineering/project management activities through the project lifecycle from the proposal through project closeout.
  • Provides project oversight, including managing scope according to technical contracts, and developing change orders.
  • Provides technical consulting and advisory services for power and renewable projects.
  • Directs and coordinates activities for Electrical Engineers and the Project Management group on a portfolio of projects.
  • Maintains high levels of quality and responsiveness to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with company expectations.
  • Oversees design/project management activities of team members ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
  • Interfaces directly with clients to define project requirements. Identifies scope of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates, work plan schedules and associated milestones.

Management Responsibilities - 40%

  • Maintains and grows a positive team culture.
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership, and technical services oversight for employees on achieving individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
  • Creates and manages team budget for financial responsibility. Includes but is not limited to revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses (training costs, reward, and recognition costs, team event costs, etc.).
  • Coaches engineering technical staff for growth and development opportunities. Responsible for regular 1:1 meetings, career development discussions, succession planning, quarterly reviews, individual promotions, team retention, and yearly team engagement survey results.
  • Actively manages team resource planning, cross-team and cross-office resourcing collaboration, individual performance reviews, annual merit and bonus decisions, training, and professional development for team members.
  • Support the role of hiring manager as well as company-wide hiring for successful growth which includes; regular evaluation of candidate resumes, technical phone screens, collaboration with HR partners, and regular in-person interviews and debrief assessments.

Business Development Responsibilities - 20%

  • Participates and partners with members of the Sales team and engineers throughout the organization to promote revenue growth and expansion of services with existing and prospective clients.
  • Supports proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals by working with the Proposal Development Team
  • Maintains and builds positive client relationships.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required from ABET accredited university or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience engineering/or managing projects in the power and renewable field is required.
  • PE registration is required.
  • PMP or higher/equivalent certificate is preferred.
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative attitude.
  • Focused and passionate about internal engagement and maximizing the development of others.
  • Strong business acumen and industry knowledge.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, protection and control design, and system protection is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project controls (scheduling and cost control) is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point, PowerBI) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the US.
  • Must be able to travel 25% of the year.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Compensation Range is Generally +/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $179,900*
* The salary displayed represents the middle of a range. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
